Santa Fe's Energy Solution: A Biomass Future – When home heating costs suddenly shot up 160 percent in the Fall of 2000, Mark Sardella began looking for the cause. What he discovered about natural gas supplies was so terrifying that he quickly assembled a proposal to heat his entire community with local wood waste, and sent it to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The agency awarded Local Energy $1.3 million to carry out the proposal, and Sardella assembled a team of professionals to show how switching to local fuels and create billions of dollars in local economic development. Length: 29 minutes.
